JOSEPH KUDELKA: GENIUS DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHER

In the treasury of the documentary photographer more than 100 famous works. He skillfully conveys his vision of the world and attitude to the situation through the camera lens, he is not afraid to express thoughts and criticize famous personalities. Even those photographs taken fleetingly look as if the author had been building the composition for a long time, looking for a good angle. He works today, delighting fans with new masterpieces.

Life path

The future documentary photographer was born on January 10, 1938. His childhood passed in the village of Boskivtsi (South Maravansky Krai).

After graduation, he entered the Prague Technical University. At this stage, Josef Koudelka did not plan to connect his life with photography, but the camera often appeared in his hands during walks. A diligent student in 1961 received a degree, and for the next 6 years he worked as an aircraft engineer. At the same time, he continued to engage in photography at an amateur level. In parallel with the main work, he got a job in the capital’s theater as a photographer. Continue reading

RAYMON DEPARDON – GENIUS PHOTOGRAPHER AND DIRECTOR

The French photographer, also known in the film industry, Raymond Depardon, is known for a considerable creative heritage. He tested himself in different genres, but gained fame as a photographer and landscape painter. At the beginning of his career, Raymond was engaged in photographing the villages and outskirts of the cities of his native country. At the end of his creative activity, after covering conflicts and working with celebrities (Brigitte Bardot, Francois Hollande), he again returned to shooting landscapes.

The photographer himself believes that it is better to spend time working with loved ones and relatives, but thousands of his fans love the landscape shots of the author. The photographer said that he would exchange his most famous photographs for a good picture of his father. And such a statement opens the soul of Depardon as well as possible, for which world recognition has never been important. He was fascinated by the search for a successful shot. Continue reading

SHOOTING DRAMA FOOD PHOTOS IN CHIAROSCURO STYLE

The popular style of photographing on food blogs on Instagram and even in recipes books – “chiaroscuro” photography (also known as “dark photography” or literally “chiaroscuro”) is often distinguished by strong shadows and dramatic mood of the pictures. However, what really characterizes this style is the skillful interaction between deep shadows and light areas that serve to highlight an object. Japanese food photographer Reiko Nanto shares the tricks of creating mouth-watering images using the chiaroscuro-style photo capture method.

The biscuits had the theme “Alice in Wonderland”, which inspired the photographer to stylize the shoot after drinking tea in the forest. Reiko used a black reflector (also known as a black flag) in order to emphasize shadows and a dark background. Note that areas with white glaze are sufficiently illuminated – otherwise the image may look dull. To prevent the cookies from looking too flat, the photographer raised it with some stylized supports and took off with side lighting.
