ALL SHADOWS OF THE RAINBOW, OR HOW THE COLOR AFFECTS THE PHOTO

In the technical aspect, color can be complex, but in the artistic aspect, this is one of the most important parts of the image, affecting the emotions of the viewer, unlike any other element of the photo. In our article, landscape photographer Spencer Cox will introduce you to the concept of color and color combinations in the context of photography.

Warm or cold?

Warm colors are more active and emotionally charged. They just “jump” at the viewer, attracting his attention and causing interest. Warm colors are less common in the surrounding world than cold ones, so an image in which there is a small object of such a shade can stand out – you get a natural accent. This is one of the reasons why autumn photos, sunset and sunrise shots are so popular. Continue reading

JAN BERRY – PHOTO ARTIST CREATING PICTURES FROM JEANS PANTS

Ian Berry, also known in the art environment as Demimu, is a British artist who does not paint with paints, but draws them from jeans shreds, like an old mosaic. His works are incredibly popular, they are expensively bought and exhibited in galleries around the world. The most famous company Ray Ban even released a limited collection of sunglasses with a “jeans” design, inspired by the work of Berry. His paintings, even close by, can be mistaken for stylishly retouched photos – they are so realistic and accurate. Meanwhile, the artist always works in the patchwork technique, using jeans and nothing but them.

WHAT IS A DECENTRATED LENS?

A decentralized lens contains one or more elements of an optical lens that are either shifted or tilted from its main axis. Such a shift or tilt of the lens elements can potentially lead to blurring / softness of parts of the image due to the divergence of light rays. While in many lenses you can observe very slight decentration of the optical elements, especially on super zoom, strong decentration and tilt can make the whole image blurry, because the lens cannot achieve good sharpness over the entire frame.

It is always useful to check the lens before buying, even if it is brand new. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of manufacturers to manufacture each lens, many things may go wrong once you get your copy. In some cases, this is the manufacturer’s fault (poor quality guarantee / low standards), and in some cases it’s the fault of some guy who casually throws a box with a lens during transportation. Unfortunately, these conditions can negatively affect the operation of the lens and create all kinds of problems. Decentration of lens elements is one such problem, as photographer Nasim Mansurov talks about in a blog post. Continue reading
